biggest mistake of my life by Debra M. and Travis C., 8/31/2004 We purchased our engagement ring in June of 03 at a toledo ohio jared's galleria of jewelry. It was a two tone three stone leo ring. we purchased an exqusit leo marque to put in as the center stone. I was concerned that being as I work with my hands a lot for my job it would get damaged. the sales lady assured us it was hi quality and would last the durration of our relationship. The size and clarity of stone we were interested in was not redaly available so we were informed we could order one and we did. My fiance was concerned about finding a wedding band latter that would match. Again our fears were wisked away as the sales lady told us we could easily and affordably have one made if we did not find anything. So after purchasing our ring and adding all the possible warrantys and having platnum prongs put in, we felt good about our purchase. A week later when the stone we had ordered came it we were extatic. Nedless to say it has been a little over a year and I have had the center part of the mounting fixed, the white part of my ring wore off and to my amazement I learned that it wasn't white gold at all but a "rodium plated" section and that it was common for rodium to wear off. I enquired as to why I was not told that my ring was plated at the time of purchase and why I was assured that my ring was infact durable when it is not. I was never given any answer to those questions. They did not have time to fix the rodium that day so I came back and was told to leave it for at least two hours. When I returned parts of my ring that were sopposed to be yellow had now been rodium plated. I pointed this out to the lady and was told that if I left my ring over nite it would be fixed the following day. I returned again on the following day and my ring was still white, and dirty. I pointed this out to the lady who got the mgr, I recounted this all to her and asked to exchange the ring for something more durrable. I was informed that I am not alloud to return or exchance the ring despite the problems I continue to have. She told me if I waited a half an hour the newly white parts of my ring would be made yellow again. So I waited and they were infact a little better. But there is now a hudge buffer mark down the side of my ring. when I run my fingernail down the side it gets stuck in the grooves. Another problem I had previous to the rodium was that the diamond inside the band in the word Leo fell out. I took in in and was told I would have to leave the ring so a new one could be put in. when I returned to pick it up a new diamond was infact in place how ever there are now several deep gouges surrounding the stone. I asked about it and was told that this could not be fixed. So we spent thousands of dollars on a ring I cannot wear or it changes color that now has gouges on the inside and buffing marks doun one sid and is yellow and white in the wrong places. This is the simbol of our love for each other, and our future life togeather. |
