Markman's Diamonds and Fine Jewelry
Markman's the mark of excellance by Anonymous, 5/20/2004 I would highly recommend Markman's. We bought my engagement ring there years ago and Mr. Markman was patient and kind. My husband has returned there for myself or our teenage daughter. A box from Markman's is extra special. Harold Markman has always been courteous, even when one of his lower priced items is being purchased. At one point there were three different salespeople and the purchase was only $30, all kind, patient and not pressing for higher priced sale. We have only shopped at the original Markman's, on Kingston Pke. Great overall, but met one "bad apple" saleslady by Engloid AT despammed.com, 5/13/2004 I bought my wife's ring at the old store on Kingston Pike. The people there were excellent. Harold Markman seemed to not be the most social guy, but did treat me well and seem to really care about my satisfaction. The "bad apple" experience: I bought my wife a really pretty white gold necklace at the new location out near East Town Mall (Knoxville Center). It was so brilliant that it even had more sparkling than any necklaces that had many diamonds in it. She liked the necklace, but it was pretty rough on her skin and pulled her hair, so I went to return it. This saleslady that I bought it from, and I went to in order to return it, was horrible. She didn't want to take no for an answer when she kept suggesting I buy something else instead of get a refund. Then, as a last resort effort, she told me how she got paid or bonuses or something every month, based on the amount of sales. She said that if I returned it within that month that she'd not get that amount, but if I waited till after she'd gotten it, then returned it, she'd still get this money. It was a very unprofessional thing to say. She was trying to make me feel guilty and responsible for her not getting whatever commission or bonus or whatever. I stood my ground and returned the neclkace. I have vowed to not go back to that location, and next time I'm in the Kingston Pike store, Harold will be hearing about this. Overall, I'm happy with Markman's. I really don't think that they promote the behavior of this lady. I will be surprised if she works there for much longer. By the way, she's got reddish hair, about shoulder length. I'd keep away from her if you go to that store. |
