Jr's Jewelry & Gifts
JR'S JEWELRY IN OMAHA WARNING by Anonymous, 4/27/2004 I recently bought a $4,000 platinum diamond engagement ring from a store in an Omaha mall that does contract work with Jr's Jewelry and gifts. We sent the ring in to be sized and a week later it came back with a horrible taper and was very thin on the bottom of the ring I could also see the soldering mark and the ring was misshaped. My fiancé a couple of weeks later bent the bottom of the ring do to the fact that it was so thin. So we took it back to the store that we bought it from. They in turn took it to Jr's Jewelers again and the ring came back with a new bottom "shank" which was the correct size. I am not a perfectionist, but from what I know from High School Jewelry class you aren’t supposed to see the soldering marks, and I could tell on the inside of the ring where it was soldered. That didn’t bother me much, because the ring was actually thicker on the bottom and looked ok but a few days later the diamond on the channel set was loose. My fiance didn’t bump the ring and I couldn’t understand why it was lose, doesn’t the jeweler check these things before releasing the ring to the store. Anyway we then picked up the ring and it had a gouge in the platinum where the diamond was reset. This gouge was visible to the naked eye. The store then sent her to Jr’s to have it fixed. The ring was fixed, but the channel set diamond which is supposed to be flush with the rest of the ring was recessed too far into the ring. The response that the jeweler had when she asked him to fix it was that she was being ridiculous and that he could not fix it. This in my mind is unacceptable and nonprofessional work. The quality of this jeweler is horrid. Warning to all who do business with Jr’s. |
