Great build-up - then we were let down by Helmut Yurk, 5/7/2004 You did not get our business today, May 7th, 2004. The reason, we were looking to put my wife's mothers diamond into a new pendant setting. We had come to your location about a month ago and were impressed by the salesladies. They showed us some settings which they could do at that time, including one which interested us for about $400. They also told us about the fact that they would be having some designers come on May 7th and that they would have many new and innovative designs. We would need to make and appointment to see them. We decided that this sounded very good to us and we said that we wanted to see what they had to offer us. One of the ladies called last week and we set us a 10:00 a.m. appointment. We arrived there today and the designers were 1/2 hour late in getting there.We noticed some other settings at a competitors store but wanted to go and see what you had to offer. Unfortunately, when the designers came, they had only a few small trays of pendants to show us, none in the moderate range we were looking for and the designer was very pushy about trying to get us to buy one because of the honoring of her mother's diamond. We were not looking to be sold on why we should do this, we were looking for a moderately priced setting which would appeal to us. They had one which might have done if they had it in gold, but they only had it in silver and if we wanted that they would have to ship it, it would cost more to have it set there and we should really consider buying the more expensive setting. We then decided to reexamine the setting which the store had already and which had interested us. It was now $200 higher and the gentleman who waited on us did not show us any alternatives. We went to your competitors then, they showed us a great multitude of different settings and we chose one in our price range and in a design which pleased my wife. I share this with you because we had every intention of buying our setting with Zales today. We drove and hour and 15 minutes to make it there on time, We declined the initial offer of showing us more settings at the competitors store because we really were sold on what the designer could do for us. It turned out that it was really nothing. I am sorry to say that your salesladies were great and helpful, but the gentlemen, especially the designer you brought in, were not. You lost a sale today, not because of us, but because you didn't follow through with dealing with our needs. We do not purchase diamonds very often, so it is probably not a great loss to you, but we felt that you let us down today and that we probably will not come into any of your stores in the future. |
